Curio is free and open-source software, provided as-is. There are no accounts, no subscriptions and no hosted service — which means most of what these terms could govern simply does not exist. What follows is the short version of that.
What these terms cover
This website, the Curio desktop application, and the Curio Capture browser extension. By using any of them you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use them.
Licence
The software is released under the MIT Licence. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, including commercially, provided the copyright notice and permission notice are preserved. The licence text is authoritative; this page only summarises it.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the software or its use.
In practice that means: your library is files on your own disk, and keeping a backup of them is your responsibility. Curio does not hold a copy.
Your Anthropic account
Curio's optional assessment feature uses your Anthropic API key against your Anthropic account. Your use of that service is governed by your agreement with Anthropic, and any charges it incurs are between you and them — we neither bill you nor receive any part of it. See the privacy policy for exactly what is sent.
Acceptable use
Curio captures pages you visit, so the ordinary rules about other people's material apply. You are responsible for having the right to capture and store what you capture, and for respecting the copyright, terms and robots directives of the sites you use it on. Do not use Curio to collect personal data about people, to circumvent access controls, or for anything unlawful where you are.
Contributions
Contributions are welcome under the contributing guide. Anything you submit is offered under the same MIT licence as the project.
This website
The site is published as static files from the project's repository and sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It links to third-party sites, principally GitHub, whose terms and policies are their own.
Changes
These terms may change; the current version is always the one on this page, dated above, and every previous version stays readable in the repository's history. Continuing to use Curio after a change means accepting it.
